Default Engine code confusion.

So i have been having trouble with CEL light lately and was under the impression it was simply an 02 sensor issue. I replaced the Bank 2 sensor 1 02 with a bosch and it fixed nothing. I did my research on here and found that the bosch sensors dont agree with our trucks so I got me an OEM sensor and put that in. CEL light went out for all of about 1 day then returned. Now im getting several codes along with the original. Im getting one for bank 2 sensor 2-I assume is related directly to the upstream code. But what worries me now is im getting two "power train" codes that I can not figure out what they are. (P1128 and P3001). I read every post I could about 02 sensors but no luck. This is the first and only issue my truck has given me in 60,000+ miles and it has me confused. Best forum ive been on by the way, Learned alot from lurking around here.

P1128 is for closed loop fueling not achieved on bank 1. The P3001 is an invalid code. This makes me think you may have a PCM problem because it can be a cause for both codes coming up.

This sounds like reason for concern. Is there a way to troubleshoot the PCM, or am I basically up the creek and need to find a replacement? I have a hard time looking at the CEL everyday, even if it is not causing damage Ill never be satisfied until the problem is fixed.

This is a bit of a tough one. The first step for the P1128 is to repair all other existing codes before beginning diagnosis. Since the P3001 isn't a legit code, you really don't have a solid starting point for diagnosing the problem. The kicker is that a faulty PCM can cause both codes to set. If your truck has any remaining federal emissions warranty left, the PCM would be covered. I would call a dealer and check into that and if you are still under warranty, let them see what's going on. Whatever you do, do NOT erase any of the codes before taking it in.

Thanks fellas. Ill give the dealer a call tomorrow and see what they say. I just rolled over 80K miles this week hopefully they don't tell me 80 was the cut off on the emissions warranty. That would be some terrible timing.

80k usually is the cutoff for emissions warranties, but if your a regular customer at the dealer, they may work around that.
