Found an EASY way to get to the bottom row of spark plugs on my '09 Ram 4.7L
I apologize for not posting here in a while. Over the holiday weekend I replaced the brakes on my 2009 Ram 1500 with the 4.7L. I ended up putting new rotors on the back (long story - my own fault) and new pads up front.
I was planning on changing the bottom row of spark plugs at 100,000 miles. I am now just a little over that and figured since I had been putting it off. Now would be the time to do it.
I kept reading about how everyone said it was a huge pain, I looked it over several times trying to figure out the best way to get to them. I had settled to crawling under the truck and changing them from under neath.
When, I was changing the front pads I peaked behind the plastic fender well and there they were! After unscrewing maybe 6 screws and 3 plastic christmas tree clips the fender well was out in under a minute and the spark plugs were right there with in reach! Once I found a spark plug socket that would fit down in the head, I did both sides in about an hour.
Now... this is where it gets hairy. Check out the condition of the spark plugs I pulled out! I had changed the upper row a while back and I am sure they are now due to be changed again but.... I am surprised it ran at all!
