Default Ordering truck with Uconnect 8.4AN Nav. Do I need CD player?

Hi all. Working up my order on a '13 Sport CC 4x4. I'm getting the Uconnect 8.4AN NAV unit. Dealer asked my why I'm not getting the CD player. Do I need it? I only use my iPod and radio for music. Just thinking if I will ever need it.

Now if a rear DVD screen can be added on later from Ram that will work with the CD/DVD player I will def order it...

I didn't order the CD player because I almost never use one in the car. I'm still having 2nd thoughts about adding it because I'm hearing rumors that when in park, you can watch DVDs on the NAV screen.. If it wasn't for having young kids, I wouldn't care.. But then again, maybe they should just suffer like we did as kids. All we had were AM/FM radios with cassette. I also remember a 8 track in the car at one time and no matter what, we had to listen to whatever the parents wanted.

I ordered the CD player for that same reason, hoping it would play movies when in park. I have no idea if it will work, I just took a chance.

Or, for about the same price you can buy a portable dvd player with a car power adapter. Set it on the dash or between the front seats for the rear seats to watch.

I have had just my iPod and Sirius/XM radio in my current truck for 7 years. I forgot I had a cd player until one day I pushed play and a cd I forgot I had started playing. I feel that all the music i need is on or can be placed on my ipod. I usually strap my ipad on the seat for son to watch. Never have missed a cd player with today's technology. I think Chrysler's market research supports the same conclusion and therefore they saved money by not offering it except as an option.

The CD player option offered by Ram is simply a CD player and not a CD/DVD player. it will NOT play movies when in park or at all.

What you have heared is about the LockPick a 3rd party add on device that would allow one to connect rear/front camera's and give a video input capability which will alow one to play video's on the Main console screen.

This is the only option to play videos on the Nav screen. the other factory option from Ram is the rear DVD entertainment system which will only play video's on installed screens for the rear passangers.

Nav-TV just released their solution. You can play videos off the iPhone, etc. I hope to have it next week when I return from a trip.

i don't know if the RH1 is a DVD player or just a CD player

almost anything that can be put on a CD, can also be put on a large Flash Drive
when you order upgrades, they won't come on CDs anymore
the RA3 & RA4 radios are the radios to have
you don't want a RA1 because it will not have Bluetooth, non touch screen
the RA2 may become available at a later date, it will have Bluetooth, non touch screen

My 2009 Owners Manual came in booklet form
I understand that newer manuals came on CD
Likely the 2013 Owners Manual comes on a Flash Drive
