Unhappy Trouble installing cylinder heads on Ram 1500

Does anyone have tips on how to get cylinder heads to line up on locating pins? I can get one to seat but never the other. These heads are new castings as my old heads were cracked beyond repair. Seems like it has always been one thing or the other on this job. Thanks in advance for the help.

Well, since the heads aren't side specific there shouldn't be a problem unless it was done at the manufacturer. Have you tried switching them? I realize that you may have already torqued one on so it may be prudent for you to return/bench compare it from the place you purchased it. It may not have been machined correctly.

I almost want to suggest that you get it lined up and start snugging the bolts sown in sequence a little at a time as the tolerance may be very close on the pins. But I don't want to see you crack the head at your expense. I've done it (not cracked the head but alternated working my way down) and it takes patience.

Don't attempt to mount the head if you're not comfortable with the fit.

Thanks for the advice. I had not torqued either side down, I switched the sides and they went on like a dream. Again, thanks for the help.
