Default Trans, dipstick tube O ring

I bought this sweet wood hauling monster from a neighbor. I love this thing, but with any used truck it dose have a few small issues, the only one I'm unsure of is that he pulled out the tube for the tranny dipstick, and tried to replace it quickly, and smashed the new O ring so its leaking again.
He says its a pain to get to, but possible. A family friend who owns a trans shop said that I will have to pull the tranny to get it right...dang I sure hope not. What says you?

i hope you don t have to,..

but if you have to take the trans out, maybe you could just put a plug to stop the leaking instead of the dipstick until you get it fix,..

I don't ever recall pulling a trans out to replace an o-ring.

Wood hauler? how about a well placed hole in the floor? simple operation to patch over, with a bigger piece of sheet metal, and who'd know, once the rug is back in place? Easier than fighting with exhaust pipes, aren't they right where they don't need to be, for this job?
