Thumbs up Bilstein 5100 Install

Alright everyone. Got my 5100's about 2 weeks ago, and just got to them this weekend. First and foremost, this was an awesome item to install! Secondly, if you don't have access to a wall mount spring compressor, save yourself the time and body ache of trying to use the little ones you can rent from the auto parts stores!

Tools:
15mm combo wrench
16mm combo wrench
21mm deep well socket
24mm deep well socket
Impact wrench
6mm hex head/allen wrench
3/4 inch socket (preferably one you can use on all-thread) or wrench
8mm socket

1) Set E-brake if you are going to use a jack and jackstands or put on frame lift.
2) Use impact wrench and 21mm socket to remove lugs from rim(s) and set the tires off to the side. Put the lugs nuts in each hole to prevent losing them.
3) Remove top nut (16MM) from sway bar, use 15MM to prevent sway bar end link from spinning.
4) Use 21MM socket to remove nut from steering linkage and upper control arm ball joint.
5) Use 21MM and 24MM sockets to remove lower strut mount bolt.
6) Use 15MM wrench for 3 top strut mount bolts.
7) Tap the knuckle for the upper control arm ball joint to assist in separating the them.
8) Pull the strut assembly out and pre-soak top strut assembly nut with PB Blaster or WD-40.
9) Compressor strut spring, use 3/4 inch socket or a combo wrench and 8mm socket to remove strut assembly nut, or you can try and impact it off with some of the tension still on the spring seat.
10) Use table vice and pipe wrench to remove top cap from strut body, tap bottom spring mount with hammer and remove.
11) Set Bilstein's at preferred height, install bottom spring seat, bump stop, slide into compressed spring, put on top spring seat and strut mount, put some antisieze on the threads, place washer and teflon threaded nut on threads, use 3/4 inch and 6mm hex head to tighten nut completely.
12) Push down on lower control arm CAREFULLY, as to not separate the CV axle, and reinstall strut assembly.

Thank you all for the kind words. I set my 5100's at 2.1, ride is GREAT! I haven't put enough miles on it yet, but forgot to mention, DOUBLE CHECK any and all work afterwards! Got home from the shop, and low and behold, I didn't completely tighten the lower passenger side strut mount. And that was even AFTER getting it aligned... That's what I get for being in a hurry, but it was a tad after hours at the hobby shop anyway. I had to thank they guy there for allowing me a few extra minutes. As for level, 38.5 center fender front, 39.5 center fender rear. I'll get a pick of the front shafts after the weather clears. Raining all day today.

Would love to see a side profile shot of the whole truck leveled. I too have been contemplating the Bilsteins vs. ProComps.
