Default Cruise Control issue

When my cruise is set around 70mph, on my 02 Ram, every once in a while i feel a skip in the RPM. I've watched it and it will jump about 200 or 300 RPM's for a split second, just enough to feel. It seems to only do it when the truck levels out speed from a hill or a slight downhill grade. I do not feel it when not in cruise but that just could be from me adjusting speed with the pedal.

So my question is, is this just a split second adjustment, or mechanical problem?

Thanks,

Bo

That sounds like the converter locking and unlocking.

I could stay at 40 for very long but I did try 45 for several miles. It did not do it. But I also tried it at 65 and it did it again but it was going up a very low gradual grade. I bought the truck with 119,000 2 months ago and has done it since I got it. It doesn't have any problem shifting up or down. I do not know if the trans fluid and filter has ever been changed. Is the converter locking and unlocking a problem I should be worried about or somehow to check? Maybe it just could be me, being cautious since this is a new truck to me. I always heard that a bad converter shakes and vibrates while accelerating..
