Im thinking about it, particularly with the Banks mods that seem to be under way.

What are the higher maintenance costs of a diesel? I've driven diesels in Japan over 20 years, and they were cheap to maintain. All were turbo diesel except one '79 Toyota, and all were 8 passenger vans - PLENTY of power in those 4 cylinder turbos too! But, I had no extra maintenance costs.

On Ram's diesel - YES - I am interested in this 1500 diesel.

I would LOVE the 1/2 ton diesel but I just bought a 3500DRW! the 1500 would suit me better but it wasn't available when I was ready for a new truck. so I will probably do the same as wolfman.

On my 2011 Cummins you had to change the fuel filter about every 10,000 miles which weren't cheap, had to clean the turbo and EGR from all the soot about every 2 yrs which was around $1500+. Took 12 qts of oil for a oil change. I traded mine in before I had to clean the turbo or anything because of diesel prices and a divorce lol

The extra costs will depend on what is required for maintenance on the new engine. I haven't follwed it being added to the GC, but you may or may not have to deal with frequent fuel filter changes, more oil (does the 3.0 engine take more then the Hemi?), and more expensive oil and air filters. Fuel costs will most likely be a break even between the fuel economy vs. cost of the fuel.

Iv owned several diesels. Maintenance isnot bad on them. In mu cummins i would go 10kfor before an oil change. Didnt have to change fuel filters much either. The only bad thing is that the power you can make so easy is addicting. Then your frying torque converters and trannys. Im excited about this truck with the 3.0 but im scared it will be a pig. Will it use urea? Or however you spell that. If it will do 30have mpgs and haul ass, my longhorn will hafta go.

I recently had to let go of my 12 sport baby, but things are looking good again. I am 75% sold on the 3.0, otherwise, I'll get the V6 gas. I discovered I got a lot of options I never used...

Does anyone know when they plan to release full specs on the engine as it will be outfitted in the Ram? If I was in charge I would want to bump the HP and Torque a bit maybe into the 260hp, 450tq range to say that it has more torque than the Ford Ecoboost, which stands at 420 and in the low revs good for towing.

Also I wonder how supportive the aftermarket will be with this engine. It has been used in europe for awhile if I am not mistaken, anyone know if there are tuners and what kind of power people are getting out of this platform. I don't really care about the stock numbers but would love to see with aftermarket tuning getting numbers in the 300/500 range.
