Default Put my Ram up for sale....don't hate me!!

Well, I did it today. Put my Ram up for sale. As much as I love it, I have been thinking about the fact that I really don't need a full sized 13mpg V8 truck. So I am looking into trading for something smaller...like a 2005-up Nissan Frontier crew cab. Dunno if it will actually happen cuz I owe a little more on the Ram than it's worth. Plus, I only put it on Craigslist and I priced it about $1,000-$1,500 more than I expect to get out of it just to see what happens. If someone falls in love with it and it sells, it sells. If it doesn't, I still love it.

Okay, go ahead, tell me what a dumbass I am, lol.

Thanks for the support fellas. I'm really torn because this is my favorite vehicle that I have ever owned. I just have zero justification for a full sized V8 truck and I guess I'm getting older.....I wouldn't mind something that is a little quieter and rides a little better, lol. Not that the Ram is terrible or anything. But I have a Ford Edge for a work vehicle and it has spoiled me. It's comfortable in a way that a long, tall, 6000 pound truck on 20" all terrain tires is never going to be. I'm sitting here thinking though....the exhaust is kinda loud because of the Magnaflow that I put on there. And the tires hum a little because of the blocky all-terrains that I put on there, lol.

Anyway, no, I don't mind telling what I priced it at a bit. I priced it at $13,900 which as I said above I feel is on the high side. I priced it that way because I'm not in any hurry or great desire to sell it and because it's a great truck. It would be cool if someone saw it and fell in love and paid my asking price or maybe $13,500 but in reality I would be looking for closer to $13,000. It's only turned 73,500 miles and needs nothing. In addition to the low miles and excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition, I think the few light mods (hood stripes, level, newer chrome clads with aggressive tires, tinted windows, tinted tails, and tinted fogs) really give it sex appeal. I've also taken care of the few common issues that these third gen trucks have such as having the door trim pieces professionally repainted, installing new TYC headlights to replace the yellowing ones, and having the front end recently checked by a trusted alignment guy. The front end got a good clean, all tight bill of health by the way!

I will keep you guys updated. I have been talking to a dealership about all day today and they insulted me with their max trade offer so unless I sell it to an individual, this trade probably isn't going to happen. Which as I have said, isn't such a terrible thing anyway.

Here's a link to the CL posting.

No, you're not a dumbass! I went through the same process. I had a 2004 ram....then, I went through some dementia, and decided I needed something smaller. Got a 2004 dakota. Hated it, so I went with a 2005 300C. Loved it except that is was a car.....

You will be back, and we will welcome you home like the prodigal son that you are!

There's some truth in that. As I said earlier, I've got a little negative equity in the truck due to trading so many times, lol. So it's going to be a little bit of a pain to sell it outright so I'm gonna make it worth my time and effort. Most of the vehicles I have sold in the past I have priced pretty low for a quick sell cuz I had my eye on another one that I wanted to buy or in a couple cases had already bought, lol. Not the case with my Ram though so I intentionally priced it high just to see what happens.

The biggest thing I like about my Ram is the appearance. The stance and the big chrome rims really get some looks. But all I really need is something all four family members can get in and can haul some garbage, bikes, and occasionally some camping gear or a 100 pound propane cylinder (use that to heat my basement). Plus, a little bit better gas mileage sure wouldn't hurt.

I've kinda already been through this cycle once, lol. My first truck was a Ranger. Traded for an F150. Traded for a Mazda 6 (V6 5-spd, wanted a Mustang but needed a 4-door). Traded for a Colorado. Traded for my first Ram. And finally traded it for my current Ram.....whew, lol.

I don't need a 3/4 ton truck but I am using it as my daily driver.
