Default Stuck in Park

Hello I searched this and it gave me answers on 2010 not 08's .
Shifter gets stuck in park at times, from doing research it looks like BTSI, brake lights work ok so I ruled out the brake switch.
The issue is I called the dealer and they told me my truck just has a cable and not a BTSI.. I gave him the VIN and this is the answer he gave me . I think I just spoke with a dink.
I really called for a price on the BTSI but according dealer dink my truck doesn't have one.. I'm sure it does.
So for those of you who have replaced this piece how much was it and is it difficult to change. Thanks.

The BTSI (Brake Transmission Shift Interlock) mechanism is on the shift cable were to attaches to the column shift lever. It is working. It will not release when the brake pedal is depressed. It only releases if I unplug it. With a small child it is a safety feature I can't do without. ...

Is it a Column shifter or floor...

It's a column shifter, so if I unplug it will work but it will be unsafe because it can be pulled out of park with out depressing the brake pedal?
If unpluged does it effect anything else such as factorey remote start or cruise? Thank you for your help.

TO be safe contact the dealership and tell them.. But most adults push the brake down the put the truck in gears.. its a safety feature... so IF you unplug it you can easily place the truck into gears without the brake being applied... But to be safe tell your dealer

Actually I believe the BTSI is set up so it must be powered to pull out of Park. If you simply disconnect it, it will be LOCKED, not unlocked.
