Default Leveling kit, Bilteins or spacer?

hello, i am fairly new to the site and i am sure there are other threads about this but i can't seem to make my mind up, I want to do a level kit on my 2012 RAM Sport 1500 about 2.5" and i am torn between a spacer and Bilsteins, any suggestions or people who have them and like them would be greatly appreciated, and is there really a difference in the two besides the obvious installation? id one better or worse than the other? thanks looking forward to the help

Bilsteins. The stock shocks are gonna wear out and you're gonna have to put in new shocks anyway. Just do the Bilsteins and be done with it. Besides, the ride is awesome.

Eventually, yes, the shocks will wear out but most shocks will [probably] out-live the vehicle's ownership of the original owner. I say this because many will tell you to replace your shocks north of app. 50K [driving habits/conditions dependant] but some, myself inclusive, do not hold onto their rides past the manufacturer's warranty period. So, no, changing the shocks to Bilstein 5100's should not be undertaken for that reason alone.

Going with the Bilstein 5100's is the BEST method for leveling these 4th Generation Rams to obtain AT LEAST a comparable OEM ride - which often suffers with just a spacer level - and often a far better than OEM ride. Add to this the availability to adjust your ride height and you have a win-win situation.

Of course, this is all my opinion.

You made a wise choice.

I have gone back and forth over this for my truck (on order so I don't even have it yet) and changed my mind a dozen times...thinking I didn't need new shocks on a brand new truck and just to do spacers for the first 50k miles...then swap...but makes no sense to do that just to save $200 or so. Better to do it right the first time...
I have a truck with 2" TGC spacers on it for nearly 80k miles and looking at the angles on it up front, and pics I have seen of Bilsteins set to 2.1" it seems like the angles are not as high (closer to stock) with the Bilstein setup and this is important in the longevity of a front end...and replacing ball joints, tie rod ends, CVs, etc early is COSTLY...So I finally settled on the Bilsteins and also seeking the best pricing. I plan to start picking up mod parts end of month as my truck should be here mid March I think to early April latest...
