Default lowering with 4 link and air

hi

I have a 2003 1500 thunderroad that I bought for my dog.he gets the back and hes big. 10 moths old and130#. its pretty quick but rides like a 4 wheel drive truck. Not that bad but not good. Im looking to make it ride more like a car. I don’t really load it up with anything as I also have a ’96 3500 V10 with an 11’ flatbed. So im thinking of bagging the four corners with a 4 link in the back. My problem is that I really haven’t been able to find any info on installing the 4 link. I mean basic info but not explicit. Like which side of the frame it goes on. Im thinking the outside because of the fuel tank. And if so what about the brackets for the leaf springs? Do they come off? If anyone has done this id like hear from them. I can go ahead and buy the kit and measure the rods but just like to be informed

Your best bet will be to find a shop that does something like that professionally. a true and full air'd out rear 4 link requires quite a bit of frame work and moving aroud important parts. Its not exactly something that is a walk in the park

im kinda getting that. i think ill go with the lowering leaf springs from bell tech and bag the front. the package from two venders was intimidating. the front doesnt look that hard. thanks for your feedback.... robin

You could always get drop shackles and a flip kit and c notch the rear and be happy with that drop then air the front to match? That wouldnt be too bad.

Youd still need to find a plave you trusted for frame mods in the rear

the thing i dont like about the flip kit is you use the same stiff ass springs and are stuck with the same ride... rough.. bell tech lowering leaf spring lowers your carrying capacity so should give a better ride. i dont need to carry anything of any weight with this truck. it lowers it 3" and a 1" lowering shackle is all i can do with the tires on it... 31". the good thing is its just a bolt n replacement.. no mods... the front from air tech has me cutting off the arm that has the bump stop on it so i have to figure how low it will go. it would be the shits to be somewhere and have the truck sink down to the tires with no bump stop. im not sure if i put another one on... i haven got that far yet. i really appreciate your input.. it helps confirm a few things again. i really like as much knowledge as i can get before i jump into something ive never done before...

You can also remove a leaf or two from the leaf pack for the poor mans soften up the ride a little.

A shop i used to be the sales guy at did this a few times and it was surprisingly effective

actually i had thought about about removing all but two and running bags so i wouldnt have to deal with the 4 link. a guy, max, at streetbeats suggested it then boohoo"d it. i think because of the sales commission. then im not sure how many you can take out and still not have the springs wrap up under power. the springs from bell tech are only $239 for the set. on another note you have a 2012 hemi 5.7. it has 390 and 407. what did they do to get that extra 45 hp. is there something i can do like exhaust and chip stuff. these things are pretty quick. i had an '80 1 ton that i dropped a 440 in. it had 375 hp and 400# and it was pretty quick. i think it was a '71 440 with a highway patrol package. had a lot of power. i did that around 1984. we are from the san fernando valley. moved to santa cruz in 1971. i see your down in anaheim hills. i grew up in pacific palisades.
thanks again.... robin
