Default Painting Backup Sensors

Have any of you guys painted your rear backup sensors? Just wondering if they still work correctly if they are painted.

Well I'm sure it depends on how thick the ice or snow is. I've been reading elsewhere that 1 or 2 thin coats of paint are fine. Must be sprayed on, not brushed or rolled on because it is too thick.

Was just curious if anyone on here has actually done our particular trucks with good or bad results.

I read that you can spray them using non metalic paint. Can't remember which forum though.

in one Cherokee forum, many people have painted them, & some were done with vinyl

a site that supplies Wireless sensors wrote
Can the sensors be painted to match the color of my vehicle?

The sensors can be spray painted to match the bumper color of your vehicle.
For best results, spray paint no more than two thin coats (not to be applied with brush or touchup). A coat of lacquer can be applied for metallic look.
It is recommended that you have the sensors professionally painted by an auto body shop.
Note: While a customer may paint sensors to match his vehicle color, please note that sensors painted by customer void the warranty on the sensors.

one person called around & then posted this
Others suggested this method:

1. Wax & Grease remover to prep the sensors.
2. 2 coats of paint
3. 1 Coat of Clear

So i used that method and they came out perfect, i installed today and they were perfectly.

I plan to try and I will let you guys know. I think the black sensors look out of place in my white bumper.

I might try painting a piece of clear plastic or something and place it over the sensors and see if it effects their function. If it doesn't I will paint them for sure.

Thanks for the input!

Do you paint them any differently than other components?
