Default Rear End Gear fluid change

Anybody got any advice or tips for someone who has never done this before,

I have a 2011 Dodge Ram Sport 3:92 gears want to change the fluid, If i let the dealer do it for the first time they will not remove the cover they only suck out the crap i would rather remove the cover and refill.

Can i drive the truck right after doing this change or do i have to wait a while to let the RV sealant cure.

Did you use a gasket, I believe form the OEM there is no gasket.

Thx

Remove the cover and drain. Use some ragss to wipe everything out and do a good inspection of the ring gear, spider gears and LSD is you have it. If nothing looks abnormal clean the mating surfaces of the cover and diff, use quality RTV and seal it up.

Some say to wait for the RTV to set-up. I just use the black RTV that is made for oil exposure and seal and fill. No waiting. Remeber to add the appropriate friction modifier if you have the LSD.

If they suck out the fluid, how do they do an inspection ?
I thought that was why they used a cover without the drain plug, so a inspection had to be done each time.
Then again, the owners manual has no required fluid change, except for severe duty vehicles like taxis

I changed my rear end cover to one that has a dipstick, a threaded fill plug & a magnetic drain plug. any metal particles would show up on the plug

I use have used RTV black on previous vehicles and I let it sit and "cure", but only because I have either not needed to go anywhere, or have a second vehicle handy. If I had to use it, I would not hesitate to drive after changing the fluid and using RTV black.
