Default performance vs. towing

At what point if at all would performance mods affect towing capability? I picked up a second job that I like to call my truck job because the government just doesn't quite pay me enough to feed my addiction (we all know ya gotta pay to play) and the majority of my mods that are on deck affect the go fast aspect but at the same time I am a middle of the road guy where I still intend to use it as a truck. planned mods are: DS trinity, vararam, TLC airbags, bilsteins, new tires/wheels, jba longtubes (when they are released and tested) as well as a few visual mods headlights tail lights that sort of thing. Of course I have a dream of a supercharger someday but 4-6k on one part will take some convincing of the wife lol. So within the normal towing capacity of the truck would it be affected negatively?

Just be careful to not go crazy on the tuner. Too much ignition advance can cause problems when you're loaded down and needing low-end grunt instead of top-end power.

If you want to tow and go fast, get a diesel!

Like said above, watch the amount of ignition advance. Or have 2 tunes, one for daily driving and one for towing. The other stuff won't hurt towing. One somewhat common mod that can hurt towing capacity is a high stall torque converter.

I would love to get a diesel but No dealership would give me sh$t for my truck so I really dont have room to maneuver. I cant justify a crapload of negative equity because what I do tow is within the towing capacity for a 1500. I have emailed hemifever and asked about a custom 89 octane tune geared towards towing and he said it wouldnt be an issue. I am saving for a few months before I make any purchases so Ill probably give diesels another look then. I know the stall converter could be the focal point for issues but how high is to high? Would I be ok with just a 2800 edge/circle d?

If your towing heavy loads I wouldn't go above 2600. But discuss it with the manufacturer.

Tunes can be changed pretty easy so IMO the tuner is a good buy that can help towing. The only thing on your list that could effect towing would be wheels and tires.
