Default Question about adding coolant?

Hey everybody. Just a quick question here. My coolant level in the plastic reservoir seems a bit low. If I want to add some to the reservoir to top it off to the fill mark do I have to mix it with 50 percent water then pour it in the plastic reservoir or can I just pour straight coolant into the reservoir? Also where can I find the correct coolant? Do I have to go to the dealer? Thanks!

You can buy anti freeze from the Dealer or from O'Reilly's you need to get Zerex Part # GO5. Also be sure to use distilled water only. Do mix it 50/50 and use that to add to top of your coolant. Do not recommend putting straight coolant or water in but it can be done, reason being to much water can raise the freezing point and to much anti freeze can lower the freezing point. Hope this helps.

Zerex also sells a premixed 50/50 for about the same price as the coolant only product.

And yes you can just add coolant if needed. Zerex recommends a 50% to 70% range. Higher concentrations of coolant just means lower freezing point and higher boiling point. Not by much and I'm sure you probably won't even notice.

Yes it can be hard to find, the last I bought was in Nashville, TN about 2 months ago and they had to get it from the main warehouse. I'm color blind but do know the Zerex G05 is the correct coolant but not sure about the color.

The manufacturer recommends using Mopar
Antifreeze/Coolant 5 Year/100,000 Mile Formula... (<--- don't believe this for coolant life, it does not last that long)
HOAT (Hybrid Organic Additive Technology).
Mix a minimum solution of 50% HOAT engine coolant
and distilled water. Use higher concentrations (not to
exceed 70%) if temperatures below -34F (-37C) are
anticipated.

It's kind of orange with a hint of yellow.

Reminds me of orange gatorade.

Get the Mopar stuff if you can't find Zerex G05, but the Zerex is approved for our trucks. Both are HOAT coolants.
