Question why would "oil change" be indicated at 2100 miles since last one

I'm at 7 weeks/2100 miles since my last oil change and the truck says to contact dealer, oil change due.Why would this be?
The dipstick shows the oil level is where it should be.
The oil itself looks really clean.
It actually looks too clean...at 2100 miles I know it shouldn't look like it's fresh/new oil but it does.
I'm stumped on this one!!!Any ides anyone???????

It's either A) a malfunction in the EVIC and/or sensor that reads your oil change interval or B) your driving habits constituted an earlier than "normal" recommended oil change interval.

I say it's A.

BTW, I was taught a long time ago that an engine oil's appearence is [almost] always a poor indicator of whether a change is required. It's never a true reflection of the oil's condition, per se.

Example: I change my oil every 10K [pretty much to the mile] and my oil's visual appearence at the end of that 10K interval during drainage is identical to what I poured into it at the time I changed it.

2009 Ram and your getting the oil change message at 2100 miles? I'd change it for the heck of it, but save a sample and send it off for testing for curiousity sake. May be engine idle hours...do you do a lot of idling? How about towing? Are your RPM's constantly higher than average because of towing? Just some ideas...
