Default Pinion Bearing

I have a 98 Dodge Ram Sport 4x4 with a 5.2. My front pinion seal was leaking, so I went to replace it today. Once I removed the front drive shaft I realized that the pinion bearing was bad. I plan on going to the local pull-a-part and finding a new/used dana 44. I won't be able to find the axle and replace it for a couple of weeks. My question is, as long as I keep it in 2wd am I really risking the front diff blowing up. I just need to go to Home Depot and the dump, I plan on not pushing the truck hard just need to finish a few projects before I swap out the front axle. Also I'm thinking of replace all the axle seals, and that way I can replace any ball joints and/or u joints. Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't think it will "blow up" per se, but I wouldn't drive it any more than I had to until it's repaired.
