Default tune up ?'s

i dont have a clue what the PO did to her before i took possession of the truck. im going through gas pretty quick, at least it seems like it and theres no check engine light or codes for o2 sensors. im thinking of doing plugs and coils. my question is, should i replace the coils? how long do they last? i was under the assumption there were plug wires and coils but its looking like there is only coils. is that correct? im also thinking of doing the rear diff and tranny fluid/filters. is this complicating? do i need RTV when reinstalling the tranny pan? sorry for all the questions but im new to working on my own stuff. ive done a bit on my car which is all im used to. i just want a run down of everything before i start it, and im waiting for some extra cash. sure isnt cheap for all this! 25 bucks for 1 coil and 8 are needed which is why im asking about how long the coils are good for. also, what plugs and coild should i use and what trany pan kit/fluid? i dont want to get cheap/crappy parts.TIA

Don't replace the coils unless they are bad. You'll just be throwing money away.

Replace the plugs with the same as oem, and check to make sure the gap is set correctly on them(refer to owner's manual for plug type and gap).

Transmission service, I did a write up, see here: (I'd suggest using mopar filters)

http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....545rfe+service

I used filters from advanced auto but in the future will use the mopar filters. All the info you need for gaskets, filters, fluid, and how to do the job, etc, is all in that write up.

Rear end service if you have an open diff it's basically just pull the cover off, scrape the gasket mating surfaces clean, and reinstall with new gasket(or rtv gasket maker), then refill. Refer to owner's manual for fluid type.

You ought to replace the pcv valve too, it's inexpensive and will help prevent oil leaks down the road.

Also could take the TB off and clean it up and the sensors it houses. Be careful some sensors can be damaged with certain cleaners. I'ts smart to get electronic parts cleaner.

With factory lsd you just need to add in the additive with the fluid(again, should tell you what and how much in the manual).
