Default Serv 4wd

OK, this is a puzzlement....

Almost every time I put the truck into 4WD (mostly 4WD Auto) the Serv 4WD light goes on, and doesn't go out unless I turn the truck off. I

I've been to the dealer, they replaced the transfer case module twice (the first time the replacement was DOA). I should note that the dealer says that there are no trouble codes being generated. Last Tuesday they replaced the module again, with a good one. On the way out of the dealer, I tried it and it seemed to work OK - 4WD light came on then went off, no service light.

Today driving to work I put it into 4WD thanks to the city of Ottawa doing their usual job of clearing roads, and the Serv 4WD light goes on. And stays on. I can't get it off right now, shutting the car down then restarting and the light is still on.

So, back to the dealer next week when I have time, and see what the problem is...

Any ideas? That extended warranty is looking like a better and better idea.

Don't know about the new trucks but on my '97 sometimes after extended driving in 4wd I have to put it in reverse and back up a little to get it to come out of 4wd.

^^^&Exactly what IU was going to suggest. Old 4x4 issue where the drive train needs to unbind to release. Sometimes it takes several attempts. Be sure your tires are forward facing (seems obvious but you'd be suprised who would try this with the wheels turned).
