Default My HID Ballast Locations For Highs, Lows, and Fogs

I just installed the Retro Solutions 55w 5000K Digital HID kits for my Highs, Lows, and Fogs.

Since I was working with 6 Ballast's I wanted to share my solution for finding accessible "metal" mounting locations...

2 are mounted directly in front of the air box on the passenger side for the High and Low beam using self tapping screws that doubled as grounds

2 are mounted directly behind the Drivers side headlight assembly for the High and Low beam using zip ties and 1 self tapping screw on the ballast to the right that was used for the 4 grounds

2 are mounted directly to the left and right of the fog light housings under the bumper mounts using self tapping screws that doubled as grounds

Hope this can help some folks out conceptually for future installs of multiple Ballast's. The two mounting tabs on the Retro Solutions Ballast really helped with being able to use the self tapping screws.

Also - Don't be a moron like me and forget to take the plastic shipping ring off the Low Beam bulb or it will crack the plastic tabs when twisting them into the headlight socket!

Just out of curiosity, why did you have to mount them to a metal surface? I had not seen that in the past for HID. Thanks for sharing your photos.

I was just worried about any heat issues potentially caused by the multiple ballast's and the added weight of them attached to the plastic panels potentially causing any vibration or looseness to them over time

Plus the self tapping screws into metal made it easy to place the grounds and keep the wiring clean

Looks great I just used a bunch of zip ties and strapped it to the metal.

Just wondering if you have any flickering issues as you have HIDs in your high beams.

I used to have them in my high beams and a harness kit from beamers that converted the DRLs from high to low beams, till one of the ballasts fryed.

So I've gone back to standard bulbs for now till I can find another option.

Cheers.

No Sir - but honestly, I hardly use my high beams any more between the fogs an lows - The times I have the highs do not flicker.

The only "Korky" issue I have is the common tire pressure monitoring light comes on monetarily if I manually turn the lights on from the switch - it goes off seconds later
