Default Ram HD trucks

For those ordering a 2500 or 3500, are you assuming/expecting rebates to be in place when you get your truck? Do ram incentives follow a 'usual' pattern?

I'm saving my pennies rather than ordering atm and am getting real tired of waiting. At some point I'll probably just bite the bullet, I'll just have to hear my wife complain at the end of each month when we can't buy anything due to the payment.

Or i'll win the lottery/befriend a rich jerk right before they die and the name me their sole beneficiary....

LOL... I'm hoping for a factory rebate, but I'm not counting on it... And like you, I'm pinching pennies right now. If you want to wait for rebates, my suggestion is for you to wait till September to order. It seems every manufacturer does rebates for the 3rd qtr.

FYI, if you wait till the 2nd week of June to order, you'll be ordering a 2014 model.... The question is, can you wait that long?

BTW, a couple of my local dealers are now showing 2013 Ram 2500 with diesels in transit. I can't wait to go seem them... Just remember, if you see one and were originally wanting a 3500... get the 3500. The 3500 has all the upgraded that you don't see, like the new 3 link front suspension...

Here's a pic of the new radius arm suspension posted on a different forum....

I'm highly considering the 3500 now. Oddly with test building on truecar.com it may be cheaper to get a 3500 since some of the niceties are included... or I just build it differently and don't see where...

With similar builds how much different in mpg should they be? i know the 3500 has a higher axle rating....

In the past, the MPG, when compared to equipped the same as a 2500 was the same. For 2013, the 3500 4x4 will get a front axle disconnect that is supposed to give it up to 1mpg better. Still, it might be a wash because of the weight ... On a 4x4 Laramie Crew Cab with the short box, the weight difference is 7424 lbs vs 7574 lbs. That difference might be enough to negate the extra benefit of the disconnect to make them the same.

As for capability vs price ... Price is basically the same, when equipped the same .. +/- $500 is what I found, and in some cases, the 3500 ends up being the lower cost option... But the 3500 with the higher payload capacity makes it the better deal. Then when you figure in all the upgrades on the 3500, it's a no brainer that it's the better deal... Wider and stronger frame, for better stability, and new front radius arm suspension. No question, the 3500 is the better deal.

I'm not counting on any rebates, but it would be really nice if there was something. The dealer was pretty willing to work on the price before I ordered. I got about $8k off sticker.

What was the MSRP, was it in the $70k + range? I'm just having a hard time believing a dealer is going to go $8k below MSRP, before rebates on a 2013 HD, unless the truck has an MSRP of $70K+....

$42,5xx and some change. Invoice was $36,6xx and there was a pretty sizable holdback on on it. I'm walking out the door at $34,9xx. You just have to find a dealer willing to work with you. Go on edmunds.com and look at the tru market value on any ram. It is always below invoice before rebates. Chrysler dealers make a decent chunk on the back end so there is no reason they can't sell that low.

That's a pretty nice price.

I'm looking at a 3500 Tradesman and figuring closer to these prices:
MSRP: $51,865
Invoice: $47,476
End Price: $47,139 (1% below invoice)

Your figures don't work out... Chrysler's holdback is 3%. 3% of $43K is about $1300. Plus, your invoice can't be right on an MY 2013 either...

Example Pricing on 3500 CREW SLT 4x4 SB is as follows..(US pricing shown, Canadian prices are higher) Pricing is accurate..

MSRP
D28H91 - $41,260
ETK Cummins Turbo Diesel - $ 7795
Bighorn Package - $ 1135

INVOICE
D28H91 - $38,441
ETK Cummins Turbo Diesel - $ 6626
Bighorn Package - $ 965

As you can clearly see, the base price of the SLT is $41K and it's invoice is $38K. Based on the that difference alone, there's no way you can get a invoice of $37K on a $43K truck as you are saying... That dealer of yours is giving you bad numbers... These numbers I posted are from a Ram build sheet I have in my hand...

BTW, this build sheet I have, with options, has an MSRP of $56,485. The invoice is $51,555 Hold back on it is just under $1700.

You need to have a talk with your dealer again, about the pricing, because your dealers numbers don't make sense. Unless he's figuring in rebates that currently don't exist on 2013 Ram HD trucks... Ask him to show you the invoice sheet...

BTW, try this http://www.costcoauto.com/ to build the truck you ordered. So far, compared to what my dealer was showing in his ordering system. The MSRP and Invoice pricing was dead on on everything I checked....

If you can actually get that final price of $34K on a $43K MSRP, you're getting a deal like I've never heard of because there's no rebates at this time on MY '13 Ram HD.... You know one of those where the dealer actually takes a loss..
