Default Tail lights amber turn signals

Anyone make or Mod the rear 1500 gen 4 tail lights to have ambers instead of the red? Anyone sell them?

You'd have to buy new tail lights with clear lenses. I don't think the amber would look good behind the red plastic.

I was thinking more about modding the reverse light to accept also ambers, so in effect they will glow amber.

Check out http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/

I know they have direct fit LED's and they make ambers as well as multicolors. They are a little pricy compared to eBay, but they are well worth it. Top notch build quality and extremely bright. I swapped all my halogens with 6000k LED's a couple months ago.

So I guess on paper it would be as simple as extending the existing wires from the existing turn signals to the reverse section of the assembly then making a hole to put in new amber led or bulb to work in the same housing as the reverse light that is.

I guess used stock tails are so cheap one might try something soon.

There RAM model years only go as far as 2014, didnt issues occur on 2015 models ? in respect of leds and so forth being put in them.

EDIT. I just looked at that website, the LED are not canbus, as one reviewer said the license plate LED threw a error message on his display. And that he had to install a resistor.

I bought LED reverse lights and license plate lights.

First problem was that the reverse bulb was meant to be positioned horizontal, not vertical like in the Ram taillights so light output was no good.

Second was I was able to get CANBUS license plate lights but they were too long to fit in the small housing. I ended up grinding the plastic down to make them fit but they only lasted a few months before they started flickering and died.

So I do have to say they are not top notch quality, YMMV.

Default Amber turn signals

Hi,
I saw your posting on the forum about amber turn signals.
Are you English??

I'm in the process of exporting a 2016 RAM 1500 Big Horn from Ontario to England and I'm interested in getting rear amber turn signals (indicators). Did you find anything????

In England there are a couple of dealers that sell RAM 1500s at stupid prices and they convert the reversing lights to turn signals and put a reversing light and fog light under the rear bumper - it looks ugly!!

Anything you can suggest would be really useful, thanks.

Cheers

Kelvin
