Default muffler question

Just bought a 2013 ram quadcab last week and would like remove just the stock muffler only and replace it with a magnaflow. The service manager at the dealership said this could cause the check engine light to come on. He said it could cause problems with back pressure. I know very little about this, is he blowing smoke or could this cause problems.

He's blowing smoke. My dealer told me not to lift my truck cuz it can cause all sorts of issues. I put a magnaflow on mine and I have had no problems!

Had a Flowsound (generic flowmaster) put on mine 3 days after purchase. No CE light and it sounds like it should have from the dealer!

Do you have to cut the muffler out or is it just connected with clamps? Sorry, to snowy and wet for me to squeeze under my truck and look.

Went back to the dealer today, service manager said that it might throw a code causing the service engine light to come on. He suggested talking to a few of his mechanics about it. I talked to 3 different guys and they all said any thing done from the muffler back won't cause any problems. The stock muffler is clamped on so there won't be any cutting needed. All I have to do now is pick out a muffler, leaning toward magnaflow just not sure which one, any suggestions. What I'm looking for is a nice rumble at idle and some sound inside the cab without alot of steady drone. Thanks.

I put on the 18 inch. It has a nice aggressive sound but not as loud as the 14 inch. Depends on what is too loud for you!
