How do you change your filter only, without draining your engine oil, and not losing a tonne of oil in the process?

Glad this came up. Changed mine with Mobile 1 at about 3200. Message came on around 3500. Any way to get rid of message?

Your EVIC will allow you to reset the oil percentage/reminder thru the settings.

Or turn the ignition switch to on, don't start the engine, and push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times.

This is the service where I get my oil changed. For $100 I get a oil change and car wash then I get a free filter change and car wash around 3,000 to 4,000 miles later Sounds pricey but the car washes are $25 apiece! And they do a good job and most of all I trust the oil guy!!! And this is the royal purple price its cheaper with other oil's

A friend of mine changed his own oil by starting with removal of the oil filter.

Funniest thing I've ever seen.

He had also just driven the same vehicle to get the new oil and filter so all was nice and toasty...

So what is the best oil filter to use?

For manufacturer recommended mileage/time oil changes I would say Wix can't be beat, if you are planning on an extended oil change with synthetics I would say Amsoil or Mobil 1 filters.

Default First oil change/syn oil?

I just bought a 2012 Ram Sport 1500 and now have 750mi on it. I have always used mobile 1 on on previous vehicles. When I traded my 2009 GMC Sierra in and told them I used Mobile 1 oil, they thanked me for letting them know cuz now it will always required synthetic oil. They told me basically I was throwing my money away and my new truck did not need syn oil. Also when should I do my first oil change? Should the break in oil be left in longer than a regular oil change or should I change sooner?
