So I just rolled 3000 miles, should I change my oil now, or wait till 5000 miles? My oil life shows I believe 71% still. I'm going to use the mobile 1 synthetic. Should I have any issues using this oil, or should I use something different?

Thanks,

RJ

No need anymore with the much better quality oils & filters, especially synthetic, to do the 3K oil change. Not sure it was ever really the case, but rather a marketing ploy by the quick lube industry so i would wait until at least 5K.

You should be able to run synthetic right out of the gate, but certainly at 1K is fine.

I use regular oil, I have run regular oil in all my cars and bikes, guess because they get changed so much I don't see a point in wasting the money. I usually go about 5000km, And I run fram filters in everything, or wix if fram doesn't make a correct filter

I use amsoil signature synthetic and amsoil filter.... Second best filter to that would be a wix
First change was at 5000km amsoil is also Chrysler approved.

Just had my free first oil change at the dealership yesterday at 3500 miles... Was able to watch the mechanic through the fish bowl window and I was curious as to his method or removing the oil filter.
Thought I might learn the super secret method of getting it off without making a mess. Turns out they go old school just like us. He had a little stack of cardboard squares next to his tool box - (just hand cut scraps of Mopar- boxes). Slid the cardboard in - bent a V- oil drips right into the tray.
Nothing revolutionary- just kind of funny to see a state-of-the-art facility and a $40K truck with a piece of cardboard jammed into it.

Default No such thing as a MOPAR oil filter

Mopar branded (logo) filters are made my FRAM, or someone else like WIX. The optimium oil filters are Mobil 1, AMSOIL, K&N and I've just installed the first use of the newer FRAM ULtra with glassfiber elements so I can evaluate it.

Don't be bamboozled by marketing hype. Dodge or MOPAR (whatever) doesn't make an oil filter that is "perfect" for Mopar engines.
