Default 8-Speed 5.7L HEMI Fuel Efficiency

Hey All,

Dodge is currently marketing a 20% better fuel efficiency than their closest competitors such as Ford and Chevrolet but that's with the standard 6-speed.

With the new 8-speed, air ride suspension (overall better aerodynamics on highways), and active grill shutters, what are people truly receiving in fuel efficiency?

Is it better than the 20%?

Either way, state your posts here preferrably in Km's/L's if possible or the standard American imperial system. Gotta know!

No one really knows real world mileage figures yet...first ones are hitting dealers this week. And I believe their 20% claim is with the 8 speed...

Current 4wd Hemi EPA ratings claim it gets 13 city/19 hwy. 2wd gets 14/20.

I would bet the 8 speed 4wd shows 14/20. and the 2wd gets 16/21.
(Meaning 10% city improvement and 5% highway)
Reason being, closer gearing and lower 1st will make a decent difference in city driving...but on the highway gearing is the same...BUT the trans should have less parasitic loss so still some hwy improvement as well as with the grille shutters and less drag from the changes this year.

Since I have a 4wd on order...I am hoping it gets 15/21! But I think still having a Hemi and being a fullsize truck that's unlikely.

Just an FYI.
All of the class leading mpg's are based on using the 8 speed. The HFE which has the air-suspension standard has the best as well as it has the start stop technology.

I am pretty sure the 20% better fuel efficiency is for the V6 and not the HEMI

Window sticker posted here:

Shows 15/21 - 17 combined with no air suspension (that I can see).

EPA V8 Hemi mileage is;
5 Speed 8 Speed Improvement
Combined 15 17 13.33%
City 13 15 15.38%
Highway 19 21 10.53%

Based on these trucks Monroney's
http://www.chrysler.com/hostd/window...RR7PT7DS615720
http://www.chrysler.com/hostd/window...RR7MT8DS605881

EPA would test with the shutters on the 8 speed, as they are part of that package, but not the air suspension.

Good info.
The first had a 3.92 and the second 3.55 rear.
