Default '06 exhaust question

Just got my truck a cple wks ago and it's way too quiet! Muffler only to keep a budget. Cple questions...
1) autozone told me stock replacement is 3" off center/3" center. Is that correct?
2) do I keep the resonator after the muffler?
3) thinking of magnaflow 18" but may have to do flowmaster 40 (again for budget)
4) is it true that a single in/out will be louder than a single in/dual out of same muffler?

This is on my qc hemi. I want to stick with the single exhaust out the side for now. Don't want anything too loud until I get on it because of 2 young kids that usually fall asleep while driving. Will the 18" magnaflow be too loud? Should I do a 24"?

Thanks
Dave

I've got a magnaflow cat-back exhaust, which comes with the 18" muffler. I find that at normal driving, it isn't really loud at all. Certainly possible for kids to fall asleep. Now, when you get on it...well that's a different story

P.S. I'm young, so quiet to me may be loud to others, just something you may want to take into consideration.

With the cat back, does that come with resonators o are they deleted? I googled it and ppl were saying that the 18" (muffler only) with resonators weren't too bad, but a lot louder without. The 24" was almost too quiet with the resonators.
It's a truck so I'm not looking for too much performance but is the stock resonator really restrictive like the muffler? I wil eventually also get a cai.
Thanks

Pretty sure the one I bought only has the muffler, no resonators. It is loud when you want it to be, but I've found it to be okay cruising around town and on the highway. Not sure about the restrictiveness of the resonator, but I do know that magnaflow claims a 15 HP and 12 Ft/Lbs of torque increase with the cat-back exhaust.

resonators are like the magnaflow and it's a straight thru design...you could just swap the 18" for now, and if it's too quiet then chop off the resonator..
