Default Wheel and tire help

I'm looking into getting new wheels and tires for my truck. It has a 1.5 inch level kit on it and is on stock wheels with a 275 60 20. I want to get a little wider tire and a tad taller and stick out a little bit more. Should I go with a 20x9 or a 20x10 wheel and also what does a - or + offset mean? thanks!

There are some good threads on here that have a lot of information about this. But in short, + offset will have the wheel mounted closer under the truck. - offset will push the wheel out a bit more. It sounds like you want something with more negative offset. A 10 inch wheel would require a more negative than a 9 also to have it stick out about the same.
If you only have a 1.5 inch lift you may want to look at a 33, maybe a 34 inch tall tire. A 305/55/20 may work with a wheel that has a more negative offset and would probably look good.
There is something to start ya off.

I was looking at going with a -12 offset and a 20x9 would I be able to fit a 285 or 295 60 20?

I had the BFG 285/65/20 on stock wheels which is a 20x9 and I think a +18 offset, no rubbing, great fit but that was with a 2.5 spacer. I would be worried it may look a tad squeezed in there. It might look a little weird with a -12 because it is a bit narrower of a tire. I don't know, I may be wrong. I would be worried a 295 may rub just because you only have a 1.5 inch level. I can't recall seeing many people fit a tire of that size with only that amount of lift.
An option may be the 285/60/20 Duratrac. It is a good looking tire with decent width and not as tall. It may fit in there nicely.
