When my local Line-X shop sprayed my bed, they first took off the inspection plate from the tailgate, then the removed the tailgate from the truck.
They sprayed the bed first, then the tailgate, then the inspection plate
5 minutes after spraying everything, they removed the tape & paper that was covering the paint & cleaned up any over spray.
The tailgate & inspection cover were cleaned up next & reinstalled.
After i had my accident, i had to get the new tailgate sprayed, the inspection plate had not been damaged, they again sprayed the tailgate without the the inspection cover being attached. They also gave the inspection cover a quick spray job, so that the color would be same on both the tailgate & inspection plate
Because the tailgate was brand new & not just a re-spray, they gave me a good discount on the price
I was at the Line-X shop for the tailgate, for maybe 30 minutes total
they disconnected the wires, removed the tailgate, prepped it, sprayed it, re-assembled it, re-installed it, & reconnected the wiring & had me check the back up camera & i was out of there
