Default Mds strange noise.

I have a new 2013 Ram 1500 CC. I got the truck 2 days ago. I have only put 50 miles on it so far. When on the interstate running at 70 the Mds kicks on and the truck gets a strange vibration like I am running on the rumble strip on the shoulder of the road but not as loud. Then if I give it gas to speed up and the Mds kicks offit is smooth and quiet as a Cadillac. Also at 70 the Mrs kicks in and out a lot. At 65 it stays on pretty good. I don't like driving 65 so this is getting annoying already. I have 3.92 gears so that may have so that may have something to do with Mds on and off at 70. But the rumble vibration is not normal. The other trucks I test drove you couldnt tell if mds was on or not by the smoothness. But could tell by the fuel meter. Any Techs out there have a suggestions. I am bringing it to dealer tomorrow. Hopefully it is something simple.

It's likely normal MDS vibration. Although I like saving some expensive fuel, this system is rather poorly executed. It's noisy and vibrates a LOT. Yes, you can feel vibrations in the pedal and steering. It likely needs some kind of engine balancer and/or variable engine mounts. It's the most annoying part of the truck.

Just have your dealer hook it up to see if anything shows up. If they tell you everything looks normal, just drive the thing past 3K where your truck by then will have learned your driving style and hopefully things will all have smoothed out.

It gets smoother after it learns a driving style... Mine did that too when the battery was unhooked for the winter months

MDS vibration makes me a bit nuts too. I just shift to 6th while highway driving and 4th gear around town. I would still like to hear or read about why this vibration happens. Is it exaust noise? IDK I'm a little confidant it's ok but still would perfer no noise or vibration while MDS is engaged.... Thanks for you post and hope to read more on this issue with other members...pHiL

You can turn it off with some tuners. I turned mine off today. Could not take it anymore and I actually got better gas mileage and so much smoother running. not sure how i got better gas mileage but it did. I have the diablo sport predator tuner,

Check with your dealer there might be a flash available for it. I know with my old 11 it had shifting and mds issues something fierce. It took a total of 4 different flashes before the damn truck drove decent.

You can shut your MDS off manually, but you will need to do this every time you drive. Put the vehicle in whatever gear you want to be the highest you want to travel in i.e. 4, 5, 6. As long as you leave it in autostick mode MDS if off. The minute you go to automatic transmission mode it is on. Then you would need to change it back again if you don't want it running.
