Default need advice before purchasing my 4th gen

hey guys im looking to get a '13 or '14 ram 1500. my current list of absolute needs are 4x4 and the 5.7 obviously and i prefer a crew cab. my problem is after reading here for a a while i know the 8 speed + 3.92 is the way to go but the only 8 speeds i can find in my price range are quad cabs with open diff and 3.21s and i test drove one and wasnt liking it too much. i know the 3.92 with lsd would be night and day but i cant find any yet.
i have, however, seen some 6 speed with the 3.92 that i can afford and was wondering what you guys thought as far as reliability of the 6 speed and over all performance.
also what are some things you would suggest i look for in my new truck. some things i should definitely get and things i should avoid. thanks!

The question to ask is will you be building it up for street performance, say making 500+rwhp? If yes, get the 8-speed, if no the 6 speed will do just fine.

The 6 speed is a good transmission as long as you don't push the torque number too much.

I was out at some dunes today with mine, but I don't have anything like huge tires on mine. I've had mine for 5 years and never a tranny issue though it is starting to get a little more jumpy from years of driving like a jackass.
