Default Keyless Enter 'N Go Add-on

Hey all,

New to the forum and looking for any help. Been searching and haven't found a consistent answer to this question.

I have a 2013 Ram 1500 Longhorn. It did not come with the Convenience Package so I did not get the Keyless Enter 'N Go. I do have the remote start, though. Does anyone know if it is possible to add the Keyless Enter 'N Go option in now? I've heard it was not possible for older models, but I have yet to hear about the '13. I am aware of the available aftermarket kits, but I would prefer to go factory if that is an option.

Thanks for any input.

Brandon

I think everything is possible but adding a passive entry/passive start is a major under-taking. Just adding the antennas would require you to tear apart the doors and center console. You would need to upgrade the wiring harness to accommodate the module which is located behind the rear seat on the drivers side.

At minimum, the BCM, PCM, and ABS modules would need to learn about the addition of the passive system. Then there is the addressing of what isn't understood about the passive system to get it completely integrated.

I think if you desperately want it, you'd be better off trading trucks. Even if you did manage to get it added, you'd probably run into some electrical gremlins along the way.

I've got the Laramie and I also wanted the convenience package. Asked my local dealer what could be done and was told it could not be retro fitted but I could get a 14 with those features (if I wanted to really be upside down on my truck). My next vehicle will have that feature as it is really nice not to go into your pocket for the keys.

I think this is one of those features that you don't really know what you're missing until you get a vehicle with it and then go to a vehicle without it. I have never had it and don't really have any strong desire for it though either.

I originally thought I couldn't care less whether I had it or not before I ordered my Longhorn. The convenience group that it comes with also includes automatic high-beam control (I figured I could control my high-beams like I have for the last 30 years), rain sensitive windshield wipers (we only get about 6" of rain a year here so that's an option that won't see much use) and the remote proximity keyless entry (I figured I could just press the button on the remote again like I have done for the last 30 years). When it came down to placing my order though, I figured I had chosen everything else except for the engine heater (don't have much use for it in Phoenix) and cd-player (all my music is already in MP3 format) so I might as well add the convenience group. Now that I've had it for the last 8 months, I constantly find myself reaching for my work van door with my keys in my pocket and poking the dashboard wishing it had the start button. I never thought I would like it as much as I do, so now I am glad I chose it. It would never be a deal breaker for me, but if it were available on my next vehicle I would get it again. I even got to try out my rain sensitive wipers a couple of days last summer

I had rain sensing wipers on my last car (2010 VW CC) and that is something I miss having. I never had to touch the wiper settings. Leave it on all the time and it starts working when it needs to.

Default The only thing I no that can be added

you can ad a auto start very easy its almost a plug and play, you would use your lock button 3 times and it starts, but everything else will void your warranty..i think if you want it before playing around just trade it in
