Default Paint Fade from a Magnet Sign

A friend put a WAHOO ( Cleveland Indian Mascot ) magnet sign on his driver side back door and the paint underneath the magnet faded only after 2 days
Anyone else had this experience or any idea why this has happened?
The paint was a black color but now is Grey where the magnet Sign was

Doubt the paint faded. Probably marred the clear coat underneath the magnet.

Try to polish with something that isn't very aggressive. Meguiars Black Wax would be a good start.

+1. Especially if he put the magnet over top of a slightly dusty exterior, or the magnet had dust on it, it could have rubbed with the dust, damaged the clear coat. If he just wiped it with his hand before putting the magnet on, that doesn't count as "cleaning." I've seen it happen before, although not to the extreme that you are describing.

Default Not a Clear Coat Issue

He has taken the truck to two reputable paint shops. It is not scratched clear coat issue. The magnet altered the paint .See attached pic and you can see the exact outline of the WAHOO Cleveland Indian Mascot . Not only did this guy not win the World Series, he now has screwed up paint job. In the Picture , disregard the reflection of picnic table, window, and white sign from your view
