Default Need some opinions from you guys.

First off I want to say hi. I am Trent, and new to the forum. I have 2012 2wd Big Horn. I love my truck. When I got it I didn't need 4wd, but now do. I want to trade it in, but hate to take the hit since I just got in back in October. I am wanting to do a few things to it, but the stuff I want to do has the 4wd look to it. I am wondering, is it dumb, or "poserish" to lift a 2wd? Nothing big maybe just a 3" 1" level and lift with some meatier tired on it, fender flares, and a bully bar up front. Along with some side rail steps. I want it to look like this truck I saw in the members picture are. (sorry for stealing your pic)

This is my truck when I first got it. It is all blacked out window wise now. 5% over the existing stock tint, and 20% on the windshield. Thanks for your input in advance!

It might not be a 4x4 but it is still a truck. I say go for it.

Did you say 20% tint on the front windshield?

Is that legal in your area? Here in good ole broke-ass-squeeze-every-freaking-penny-out of-everyone California, it is not legal to tint the front windshield or the front driver and passenger windows. Although almost everyone does the latter part...

In some ways it might be a little "poser-ish" but who cares. It's your truck, do with it what you want. If you don't need 4x4 for where you drive it but want the look of it there's nothing saying you can't do that.

Do you need 4wd or just like the look? If its just the look your after, go for it! My neighbor many years ago when I had my first 2wd truck said "why not lift a 2wd? All the desert and baja racers are 2wd" I thought it was kinda a good point.

OP, you state that you now "need" 4x4.

Define "need". A modest lift, a rear locker, some good all terrain rubber and moderate smarts behind the wheel will get a 4x2 into and out of some pretty gnarly spots/situations. For added insurance you could bolt on a winch.

If it's for purely cosmetic reasons, hey it's your rig. Fill 'yer boots.

I would do it. I have a 1500 4x4. Will I use it? Sure when I need it. Otherwise I just drive normally. I plan on lifting my truck, and mostly I just drive city. No intentions of off-road use. The questions are you going to keep the truck? I plan on mods cause I want to keep my truck until I'm out of the military. 12 years to go!
