wtf does eco mean if it isnt related to the mds? Is it just informing me my foot is no longer on the gas? LOL

I guess it just means that youre driving economically. So I guess if youre cruising at 70 MPH in MDS mode its still not economically? I dunno. Does Dodge expect us to drive 40 MPH everywhere we go?

Eco simply means your throttle input is less than 20%. I remember reading this a while ago. Where as MDS has certain parameters that must be met for engaging. So while Eco can be on, it doesn't necessarily mean that MDS is on. However, I do not believe that MDS can be on, and Eco not be lit up.

It is worth noting that I believe MDS will only be on in 0 torque situations (flat surfaces, ie. not pulling a grade, little-no acceleration). Admittedly, I don't have a way to describe it better than that, although 0 torque may not be the appropriate term.

It almost seems to particular, Dodge should offer three settings for all MDS equipped models:

Eco - finds the tallest gear faster and keeps MDS longer (over slight grades, idles when warm in MDS and accelerates in MDS under slight throttle application such as driving at low speeds in a parking lot.

Normal - Which is the current application we now know. MDS activates only during constant speed, slowing down, etc

Tow Haul - Same Tow Haul setting we know now (late shift changes, etc)

I don't give a flying poop what the "engineers" say.. ANYTIME my EVIC says ECO, the engine is running on 4 cylinders. I have payed close attention to the sound/performance for months and the ECO light means 4 cylinder in my 2012 with no tuner.

I agree with sc express. When I switch the gear shift over to manual and put it in 6th which is the factories way to turn off MDS. My throttle is always plenty below 20% and no eco light ever. Even when I'm coasting and mpgs is through the roof on the evic.

I also have no muffler so the 4cylinder is distinct. Always been simultaneous with eco light. Never see or hear either in manual shift mode.

Took the words out of my mouth. In manumatic mode, no eco light and no 4 cyl mds b.s.
