Default Mirror issue

I noticed today that my left mirror on my truck has a 3" long by 1" high dark bluefish purple color along the bottom. It's been cold here in mass but I don't think cold enough to do something like that. They are the heated self dimming mirrors. Anyone have an issue like this before?

I experience the same thing a month ago and 2 days after it came back to normal , i think it's the cold weather.

On my 2010, the passenger side mirror actually turned a golden color, almost like bronze (and it stayed that way and wasn't impacted by the weather). They replaced it under warranty stating it was an issue with the heating element.

In my case they just replaced the whole assembly. I believe the mirror discoloration issue was somewhat prevalent on the 2010 at least.

It seems as though it's stuck in auto dim mode from night driving the real dark spot has disappeared but the mirror is still dark during the day.

I get the same exact thing on my 2011. When I try and explain it I get the deer in headlights look. I suspect it has something to do with the heating element for it to change the color of the mirror. I plan on bringing it in to see if they'll replace it under warranty.
