Where to start......

There should've been 4 plain ones left over in a bag for me. Stuff like that makes me feel stupid about my purchase. That all said I looked at all the American auto makers & compared their 4 door 4x4 pickup trucks w/ v8 power trains. Looks, Styling, interior styling, horse power & torque to fuel eco ratio, ride comfort & pricing. I have to admit ram won hands down. Now in regards to your tundra choice. WHY? They're butt ugly have less hp & torque. Get worse fuel eco. Their interior is budget & they're japanese!
You're right I did sit down and go through the motions and like you was so excited I missed a simple little mirror. I apologize if every car I've ever owned (im at 14 total now) of equal or lesser value has had a vanity mirror in it. It's something you kind of expect your automobile to have so I guess thats why I missed it. Like you it makes me feel stupid about my purchase also. And I agree that the looks, styling, interior, hp & torque and pricing also had me convinced it was the best out of the bunch. I'm not arguing that. All I'm saying is IMO all that doesn't make it a great running vehicle, it doesn't perform in the real word like it does on paper. I find it hard to believe you've gone through life never having regretted an automobile purchase??? A Tundra you ask, because I think they look good when done up right. Just because you think they're ugly doesn't make it so for every other person looking to buy a new truck. They have 380hp/401tq are we really going to split hairs over 10hp and 9tq??? How about the Tundra already comes standard with a 3.90 rear as opposed to the Ram's 3.55 rear. The Tundra is able to put it's power to the ground more efficently than the Ram out of the box plus it has almost a 2000lb higher towing capacity. After that the 10hp / 9tq isn't really a good argument for you. Fuel economy well it's advertised as getting 1mpg less than the Ram and according to somepne elses post it tested that way to in the real world. I office out of my house and have two street legal motorcycles to ride when it warms up so gas mileage isn't at the top of my concerns list.

Good luck to you in your search for a better car, because there is no better truck.
That remains to be seen but thanks

Sold it to sister in law in 2007 with 176000 miles still running strong .
She is still driving it today with 226000 miles still running stong & only uses 1/2 quart oil between 5000 mile oil changes .
Fast foward to 2013 2 Tacomas & 1 Tundra later i am now back into a New purchased 2012 5.7 2500 4x4 Ram
I have put 1200 miles on this truck in 3 weeks .
Gas mileage not great but this is what i expected going into this size model truck .
Looked @ the new Tundras,GM'S & Ford trucks .
Could not justify 10.000 more for less a truck ,
Does the Dodge have shortcomings?sure it does but i got what i needed ,am happy with the price & hope to keep this truck for the next 10 to 12 years .
Good luck with your decision
P.S a little Gorilla glue & a womans make up mirror will resolve the driver side vanity mirror issue (just sayin)
In 6 years you bought 2 Tacomas and a Tundra and now your singing Dodges praises. I'm not sure I see the logic in your argument.

Thanks for the responses guys and either way I'll get it figured out. Might get another truck and may not. According to KBB the trade in value on my truck is absolute shit so I may have to hold off a little while and let the payments catch up to the value.

The only two problems I'm having with my truck is in this stop n go City traffic I'll get a what I call "MDS lag" which is the truck shutters finding a gear bc I'm hardly touching the gas peddle, and from time to time I'll get a soft brake peddle making it feel spoungy. But I'm about to fix the musical gears problem, just ordered a Trinity. Pumped as dump.

But good luck with your truck, I'm sure there is a fix for the problem your having, maybe a dealer fix/ tuner fix or the worst getting a different truck...

You can go pull a vanity mirror out of a VW Beetle and put it in your full size truck...

Sorry had to...

Like I said earlier, Get a Bully dog tuner, if just for the shifting, it solved my gear searching issues.

The OP mentioned that he does not have a drivers side vanity mirror. I know when I purchased my truck that it had both drivers and passengers side vanity mirrors and they were on the truck options list printout as:

GNCP - Sun Visors w/Illum Vanity Mirrors.

Again, it is all about researching and doing your homework before signing on the dotted line that truck you wish to purchase has all the features that you want...

c'mon, a vanity mirror, i had to go out and look at mine to if i had one, it does, lights up also. how often dose a man use these. you understand that you can keep your gear selector in 5 and shut off the mds. your truck shifts funny, but you haven't had the dealer check? you dont like the way it tows max load? if i was pulling that kind of weight i would be in a 2500.

Hey jgos929 buddy I wasn't trying to slight your feelings on this matter. I'll agree these trucks roll off the line brand new w/ issues & I wasn't trying to insult you. I agree that the little mirrors on the visors should be standard so should a lot of things but thats how they get their coin back for expenses else where like floor mats should be standard, I'm not positive if they come standard w/ ram but I've seen some manufacturers list them as an option item. I'll concede the power lag/application issue w/ these trucks. I believe it's all to do w/ the management in the computer to save the drivetrain from popping & the chrysler folks from having to replace it on warranty. I'm sure the ram could tow the same amount as the toyota as a matter of fact I'd bet it could tow more. They just low ball these numbers just like they do the power output of the engines. It's their way of keeping the truck competitive w/ the rest & leaving enough behind to unleash on the next model year that way they save tons on r&d to get more. All they need do is tap into the vehicles brain & bam like the tuners they unleash the power. I'll also go as far as to say the coil sprung rear can't handle in it's current form the same payload as leafs can hence why other trucks can haul more but I'll be a monkeys uncle if they ride as nice as the ram does. Hands down the best riding truck of any made today. The coil could haul more you'd just be sacrificing too much on the ride end. After all this is a 1500 truck. A luxury truck as far as my model is concerned. I plan on hauling & towing things as much as the next guy but really if I were to need more in respect to hauling & towing I'd have stepped up to the 2500 series, hell maybe even went ram mega cab. All I know is I meant no harm, the foreign trucks are butt ugly & I wish you luck w/ whatever choice you make...
