Default New Terra Grapplers Are Loud

Alright, something must be wrong. Just lifted my truck and installed 325/70/17 Terras and they are howling on the Interstate. I had it aligned with the stock wheels and tires just after lifting. Could alignment cause the tires to be loud? Maybe I need to align it again with the new tires? I am running 35 psi cold.

Correct.

A misaligned vehicle will throw everything out of whack. Noise is the least of your problems as a misaligned vehicle will directly affect handling, steering and overall ride quality. Not to mention VERY poor tire longevity.

Make sure they are balanced, too. Weight imbalances are VERY common with new wheels and/or tires.

I've had the same tires on several cars - and currently run them on my 07' Xterra - and they are anything but loud.

Good luck.

Forgot to mention balancing. That's a big one also.

Yeah, something is wrong. I was just thinking yesterday that the Falken STZ/04 street tires on my wifes Expedition are louder than my Terra Grapplers.

Had alignment checked at a different shop (4 wheel parts) today and they said it was in spec. They made a slight adjustment. Called Nitto and they said run 45psi. Already tried 40psi and it may have helped a little but 70mph and above is as loud as my BFG mud terrains from years ago. Tires ride smooth so they must be balanced correctly. I will try 45psi but that seems a little high to me. 40 psi and riding like a wagon now. I guess I will live with it for a while.

What he said....
I own these tires and they are practically almost nil in sound.
Just cause I'm anal....there is a slight hum (that no one an hear, but myself) between 60-63 mph

Other than that, they are quite
