Default Newbie Needs Help

Hello, folks! I just joined but have been reading for a month or so and would like to thank all of you for the great info. If I posted this in the wrong place, feel free to move it. I do have a few questions though. I recently acquired a 96 Ram 1500 4x4 Auto with 5.2 liter and Dana 44 front axles. I have started the project of replacing front seals and u joints. Took everything apart yesterday, those hubs were a pain, and have started hunting parts and building the seal install tool. My questions are: what order should the seals, axles, and differential gear go back in to prevent problems? Also, does anyone have the part number for the hub/bearing assembly mounting bolts? (I screwed one up trying to get the hub out). I have hunted and can’t be sure based on all the possibilities). Finally, are Moog u joints okay, or should I only go with Spicer? Feel free to suggest any parts that I should use.

Welcome to the madhouse. Where in East Tn. are you? Installation order should be seals, diff, and axles. I don't have a part number handy for the hub bolts for a '96 but PN 04746775 for a 2001 should be the same. I haven't used Moog joints so I can't speak for them but Spicers are definitely worthwhile.

Thanks for the quick reply! I work in Knoxville but live in Jefferson County. Should I install the seal on one side first before the other, or does it really matter? Are National brand oil seals okay, or do you guys have other recommendations?

Moog is a good brand. I have used their parts on numerous occasions and have been pleased with the result.
