im just not into fords. i was in one when i was younger shifting gears cause my mom couldnt shift without taking her eyes off the road. she knew how to clutch but had a problem with getting it onto the right gear. i was in 3rd grade mind you. damn thing caught on fire and my seat belt wouldnt come undone. made it out OK but scared the hell outta me!

Ok I know its an older post, but just traded an 11 F150 Ecoboost for a new 13 Ram. I would likely bet the Ecoboost (purely speculation on my part) ingested too much water in one of the cylinders and hydrolocked on the of the pistons. The Ecoboosts have an known history of condensation build up in the intercoolers. All the earlier symptoms are exactly what I experienced for two years and 60k. Ford is trying to correct, but I think they have backed themselves in a corner with advertised power and the corrections are going to lower those numbers significantly. Mainly a smaller intercooler. Their last recommendation with me was an new intercooler just outside of warranty at my expense. Sadly owners of the 2012 and 2013 models are still reporting the same problems with the upgraded intercooler. Very happy with the 5.7 Hemi in my 2013.

It's really hard to go wrong with any brand these days. All the fan boy loyalty cracks me up. Go to a Ford Forum and I am sure you can see a post with a Dodge spewing oil all over the ground saying how bad they are. Same for a Chevy forum.

Most of these post are over exaggerated. I probably have at least 6 friends that have a ECO boost and have had zero issue with them and love them. Don't know anyone who has had a single problem with one.

The days of brand loyalty are over. Lots of good trucks out there these days.

true that

Brand Loyalty nowadays means you are lazy and do not want to research the better product for ones needs.

I almost got an ecoboost, but ended up seeing my truck at a used car lot while driving past it last year. Was one of those times you hear angel's singing and see light shining from the heavens down on it. (Corny I know...) At any rate, the only other truck I may get in the future is the new diesel ram 1500 ... probably a year or two after first model, so most of the kinks are worked out.

Also, one of my buddies just got a brand new ecoboost (even with all my heckling to get a ram), he is quite happy with it and I haven't heard anything wrong with it...yet.

I know this can happen with any brand but it seems Ford really shit their shorts with the Eco Boost. I feel sorry for that dude.

I was in 2 accidents both not my fault and both with a Ford truck. Needless to say I'm not a fan of Ford trucks.

Only good thing is I was driving my previous truck a Chevy.
