hey maveric, the TIPM is the control moduel for just about everything on the truck. everything on the body of the truck (lights, wipers, windows, seats, blinkers, ect.) is controled by this module. More than likely this is the problem. but you should still have the dealer check it out whit their scan tool (i think its called the DRB III) so they can confirm. I am going to take mine to the dealer some time in the next couple of weeks so they can do their thing. I am thinking that the cost out the door is going to be somewhere around $400 with the cost of labor and the part. I am going to have to bite the bullet but i will have working windshield wipers. and safety comes first.

I currently have this problem in my truck too. I have an 06 1500 MC. I have pulled the battery terminals and body ground, cleaned, wire brushed and put back together with dielectric grease, hoping it was a bad ground causing this. But nothing has worked. Recently I have had issues with the truck being dead in the morning. Enough juice to power everything but the starter. This used to happen after sitting for a week+, but it happened twice last weekend, and i have been driving it everyday.

Anyway, I don't know if these 2 problems are related, but it would be nice to fix them together!! I put a new wiper switch in when I bought the truck 2 years ago, and the wiper problem went away until recently...

I'll follow this post and see if anything becomes of it. Thanks for the insight to the recall and the module thing.

Its time to get a new battery if it is hard to start or wont start. Test your alternator while your at it. Your average parts store should be able to help you out testing both.

Thanks tjbiker,

the battery is fine. it is only a year old and shows 12.7V on the meter. I cleaned the terminals and connections at the starter and it hasnt failed me since. crossing my fingers! Dash gauge shows that i am putting out enough charge, but its probably wise to put a meter on that as well

When I bought my 05 2500, a year later this same thing happened to me with the wipers. Took it in under warranty and they had to replace the entire wiper assembly

My brothers wipers stopped working altogether too and his auto tech friend replaced the main wiper motor.. then had issues with the intermittent wipers not working properly.. he said he pulled the motor and cleaned contacts on it and the module and put it back in and everything was fine... brothers truck is a 2004 Sport... and my 05 Hemi Sport is doing the same thing with intermittent wipers sometimes won't work unless I switch them full on and then wait a few seconds to turn down.. but they just wipe steady.. not fast fast.. but steady.. the slow intermittent doesn't work.. been like this for almost 3 years... If its as simple as cleaning some contacts I am game.. I just need to know where to start. Anyone?

I'd love a solid response on what is causing this, because I'm having a very similar problem.

Mine's an '04, and none of the wiper settings really work other than the second fastest. Sometimes I can back it back down from the second fastest, but it stays at the same speed until I switch it off. The fastest setting is also completely dead. Weird problem, and potentially dangerous if it were storming badly!

I cant really say that I fixed it, but I removed the main grounding strap from the battery to the body, cleaned and wire brushed it, then cleaned and wire brushed the batt terminal. Sprayed everything down with battery terminal protector and it all seems to be working a lot better.

Good luck!
