What plugs did you use? It's best to replace with oem plugs and did you check the gap?

Always go with oem. Surprisingly non oem plugs can sometimes cause real severe running issues. I'm not sure it'd be so bad it wouldn't rev past 1000 rpm, but either way proper plugs will run better. What exactly is "one up"? What material?

Are you sure all wires are fully seated? I think that engine has coil on plug so there's not really a wire but still the coils need to be fully seated.

O'reilly's has been wrong on more than one occasion for me.

This break down helped big time. I actually changed the wrong plugs the first time!

CAUTION:
This engine uses TWO DIFFERENT types of spark plugs. A total of 16 plugs are used. The plugs are mounted in two rows (banks). The upper row (5) is used on the intake valve side of the cylinder head (Replace after 30K miles). The lower row (6) is used on the exhaust valve side of the cylinder head (Replace after 100K miles). The upper row (5) uses Bosch Nickel Yttrium plugs. The lower row (6) uses Bosch Iridium plugs. DO NOT INTERCHANGE THESE PLUGS.

the one up was not the champion plugs that are recommended to use but they were the ones that were around the same price.but lesson learned use oem and dont listen to the salesman.you are right they are coils and i will check to see they are seated properly.thanks to everyone for all their help

FYI the info posted above is for a 2008+ 4.7L, you have a 2005 so it's different. The info posted above is for the 4.7L with 2 plugs per cylinder, your 2005 only has 1 plug per cylinder.

The plugs may be your problem, I just read the 4.7L plugs have a copper ground electrode and if changed with a non oem plug can cause preignition(sounds like what may be going on with your engine).

4.7-L V8 (2005-2007)

Type: RC12MCC4

"Fired in suppressor seal" spark plugs using a copper core ground electrode.

OEM P/N SPRC12MCC4
(formerly 56028236AA)

MSRP: $3.70 ea.

.040 in. gap

3/4" reach, 5/8" Hex head

Torque to 20 Ft. lbs.

(NOTE: The 4.7L V–8 engine is equipped with copper core ground electrode spark plugs. They must be replaced with the same type/number spark plug as the original. If another spark plug is substituted, preignition will result.)

you are right sean having non oem plugs just messed up my truck.thanks for the info.
another question is that i did not put antiseize on the threads or put di electric grease inside the coil boots.would this have anything to do with the low rev problem

No that shouldn't effect how it runs.
