Default Truck shaking extremely hard at 60+ MPH.

Whenever I drive my truck and hit around 60MPH (100KMH) it begins to do this unbelievable shaking to the point where you can hardly see properly inside like the speedometer for example. Sometimes it shakes harder than others, but I've had it shake so hard that it's come right out of 4WD and I had to pull it back in. I've also noticed that it depends on the surface of the road sometimes as well, like certain stretches it'll do it a lot more intense than others. When it's under 60MPH it drives perfectly. There's no shaking and it's like any other vehicle. Any ideas on what's causing this and how to fix it or reduce it atleast would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would have the alinment checked and adjusted if need be first. You didn't say if you had done that or not and also it is possible that a weight has flung off one of the wheels so that it is out of balance.

I agree check the alignment and have your tires rebalanced and then let us know if you are still getting the vibration/shaking.

Thanks
Jeremiah

I'd say the double cardan joint on the front driveshaft is all done. a quick grab to check for slop in the rear of the front driveshaft will confirm. Zero slop/ play allowed. If you are somewhat handy and have a torch available, it is a relatively simple job to overhaul the ballsocket assy. change the 3 u joints at the same time, and save yourself some future grief. OR simply go to a driveline shop and buy a rebuilt driveshaft, they'll want the core for rebuilding.

That sounds like a nightmare. Although it must've been glorious to have it gone finally. I guess that's only another thing I should check for now.

im sure hes kidding.theres noway a cylinder misfire will cause the issue you described.
a misfire woold cause engine rpm to shudder....but has nothing to do with the suspension system.
