Default Good deal on OEM SRT rims...CAN THEY BE SAVED (cheaply)? Strip and polish?

Hi all. Was driving by a local tire shop yesterday and spotted a set of SRT rims sitting out front for sale. I stopped and sure enough they are OEM 22" rims mounted with Cooper Zeon XST 275/45/22 with about 3/4 tread. Guy was asking $900 but said he would take $800 cash. I honestly don't have any interest in the tires as I would have to have 305/45's. I am going to go talk to him tomorrow and see what he would ask for the wheels alone. They are in average condition....I would say 6 out of 10. They have the usual little peck or ding here and there and more importantly, a little bit of curb rash. I'm thinking I would like to get them for $350 or $400 at the most. Does this sound reasonable to you guys?

Also, being the slight perfectionist that I am, my next question is what would be a cheap fix for the curb rash? I wonder how hard it would be to remove the clear from the rims and polish the aluminum? Theoretically, I could try to smooth out the rashed spots and the rims would look much better polished out than the OEM satin silver finish anyway. My only other thoughts would be to try to smooth out the rash and then either plasti-dip them or have them powdercoated. Powdercoating would be preferable but that's gonna cost me. Thoughts?

If you can talk the guy to $350 for wheels only that would be awesome. Powder coating would be the way to go. Wish I'd see a set of SRT wheels on my travels.

I don't know that I can get them that cheap but $400 would be the most I would be willing to give for them. They might be worth more...I dunno, but that's all I am willing to give. An employee made the comment "Have you seen the tires? They are basically new. You are more or less paying for those tires and getting the wheels for free."

Okay, well then sell me the wheels for next to nothing, lol!

^^Haha.
Or....with the employee comment say, how about I pay the cost to dismount the tires and give me the wheels. He did say your getting them for damn near free.

Stopped and talked to them again today. A couple of them are a little rougher than I remembered. He started at $400 for just the rims, then down to $350, and finally I asked if he would take $300 and he said he would. I told him I would think on it overnight.

Here are a few pics of the condition. I would rather have my excellent condition 20's than these rashed up SRT 22's if I can't fix them. So, can they be saved without paying someone a fortune to refinish them? Could I sand them down and polish them back to life or are they too torn up?

Here's an overall of one of them.

And here's a shot of damage that most of them have. One of them has this pretty much all the way around it. Whoever had these rims is a non-driving goober.

And here is a shot of one of the worst spots. There are only two or three spots this bad on any of them. I'm pretty certain I won't be able to get something like this out completely. Make it better maybe, but fix it, no.

How in the hell does someone do that to all 4 wheels. Not sure what it would cost to repair them but I would not got higher then $300.

I think I have pretty much decided to leave them alone. It seems unnatural to pass up on a set of SRT rims for $300 but given the condition, lol. If I bought them I would strip the clear off of them, try to sand down and smooth out the damage, and polish the entirety of all four rims. I'm just afraid that there is so much rash that I couldn't get it all out without making a whole new mess. And some of the damage, like the gouge in the last photo, is well beyond anything I can do for it. Oh and my current 20" chrome clads are in excellent condition!
