I've towed a whole heap, best things you can have are trailer brakes and of course, load leveling hitch - heavy duty hitch that is made to tow heavy loads.
Yup, I did the math, and I pretty much slapped my own face for not thinking it out more clearly.
At most we'd be towing the thing 3 days a year, at most, and really only likely two days. We're keeping the boat at a marina on the trailer, where we spend 99% of our boating time. The only time we tow is our yearly vacation to Deep Creek Lake in western MD. In 10 years, at 2 rental days a year, it would cost around the same as swapping the gears, even less. Hell by then I'd probably have a new truck anyway, lol. Yup, pretty much a no-brainer, which I guess doesn't reflect well on my own brain
