Default 2013 Ram R/T Questions....

I had my heart set on the new 2013 Ram R/T but now I have a few questions.
  • Does the R/T come with the 8spd now?
  • If so, what is the new final drive ratio?

If it does come with the eight speed and a lower ratio like I hear is the only way to get a new one now that they stopped with the six speed, it is essentially now a Sport 2x4 with the hood correct?

and why in gods name would you want an r/t with a knob shifter that would defeat the purpose of having that truck

What would be worse than that is the exact same final drive and transmission and only 80 pounds less.

That's what makes me think that hell, they would almost have to offer the R/T with either a different final drive still or perhaps they leave the shifter intact?

I haven't heard whats going to be in the new R/T's but the only 2013's ive seen has had the 6 speed. If any is going to have the new 8 speed it will be mid summer before they are out

Just get a 12 there are still a few left out there and save about 5 grand for mods.

There's little things about the 13's I don't like, like the fog lights and the antenna for the XM radio is in the wrong place.

I'm actually a big fan of the ZF eight speed ratios provided they are coupled with the right final drive. It would actually make for a smoother, faster and more efficient driveline with less hp loss. Also, the EPS saves a few ponies as well.

My real only issue is that the only publicized ratios for the eight speed are 3.55 and 3.92 for the Hemi motor. And if the R/T no longer has the advantage of the torque converter and final drive ratio, then it is literally a 2WD sport with 22's.

Totally agreed! If they offer the eight speed with the 4.10 than I'm all in. If not, then I'll be looking at the Sport or Express 4WD with the 3.92's and a LSD.
