Default diablo computer tuners

So with the diablo. There is a 87 and a 93 octane setting. Question is. . If you download the 93 octane and put 87 in it does that affect the way truck runs. And do you get better gas mileage with these settings

If you run 87 or 89 fuel and run the 93 tune you can damage your engine! That is why you have a choice of 3. Some people have reported better mileage, however most lose a little cause they can't keep the skinny pedal off the floor. If you want more detailed information contact Matt at Moe's Performance.

Yeah you dont want to do that. You can put a higher octane in on a tune, ie. 89-93 with a 87 tune, but run the risk of detonation with a lower octane than what the tune is rated for.

I could be wrong, but I think hemifever can custom tune the diablo with an 89 tune.

The way the tunes work is they advance ignition timing and fuel trims, the higher the octane tune the more advanced the ignition timing. If you were to run a lower octane fuel you would have a fuel source that can't resist the pre-ignition from a hotter tune and you end up with detonation which shows up in the PCM on the knock sensors and in the worst case scenario can cause damage to the internal of the engine.

ALWAYS run the same or a higher level of fuel octane as the tune you have installed.
