Thanks so much for the clarification! Looks like if I don't get a great deal from the dealer on the day I pick up the truck, that will give me some time to buy it later on.

Just purchased a new Ram 1500 yesterday. Doubled my 3-year 36K mile factory warranty for $1240.00. Normally, after 6 years, all the poorly manufactured parts crap out so this was a good thing to do. $17.22 per month was easy to let go.

Service Contract Eligibility
When can I purchase a New or Pre-Owned Chrysler Service Contract?

For Vehicles Less Than 4 Years Old And With Less Than 48,000 Miles

All Chrysler Service Contract New Vehicle plans that provide mechanical coverage can be purchased within 48-months and 48,000-miles from the original warranty start date (the date that you or the vehicle's original owner actually took delivery of the new vehicle). If you buy a New Vehicle Chrysler Service Contract after one, two or three years of vehicle purchase, a surcharge may be applied to the total cost. Convenience and Maintenance Plans may be purchased at any time.

For Vehicles Over 4 Years Old OR With More Than 48,000 Miles

Vehicles that are over 4 years old or have more than 48,000 miles can also purchase a Chrysler Service Contract, however, a Used Vehicle Inspection must be completed by any authorized Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealer or authorized service center prior to completing the purchase. Please see the Document Library to download the Used Vehicle Inspection Form.

For Vehicles With An Active Chrysler Service Contract

Vehicles that currently have an active Chrysler Service Contract that will soon expire, are also eligible for additional Chrysler Service Contract coverage. During the quote process, simply indicate that your vehicle is over 4 years old or has more than 48,000 miles and you will be directed to the available Chrysler Service Contract plans that start from the date of purchase. IMPORTANT: You will want to wait until the current contract is close to expiring based on years or miles, as the extension contract supersedes the active contract. Note: When extending an active contract, a vehicle inspection is not required.

I did the same. Bumped the standard Canadian 3 yr bumper to bumper to 5 yr.
Buddy had 2010 and recently the whole dash went and it was 5 grand just fur the instrument cluster. The extra warranty on these trucks is worth it IMO

So I printed out the Chrysler warranty website pricing and took it to the dealer. He says this must not be a factory warranty and he hasn't heard of it, he of course wants $1700 for 7 yrs when the one online is about $1100. Has anyone bought one of these on chryslerwarrantys.com AND used it? Is it a factory warranty? Sorry if this is a repeat.

Just because some place on the internet sells the same warranty for significantly less doesn't mean it's not a factory warranty. I didn't use the web-site you referenced but I did get a quote from chryslerfactoryplans.com of $2185 for the Lifetime Maximum Care warranty. The guy at the dealership that I paid for my Ram didn't bat an eye when I handed him the quote and told him if he will meet it I'll buy it from him. This came from the site you referred to "As an authorized vendor of Chrysler Service Contracts, you can buy from us and take your vehicle to any Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep dealership in the United States, Canada or Mexico. It doesn't matter whether you are from California, Florida, Texas or Maine. You get the same coverage as if you bought it locally. We put your information directly into Chrysler's national database which is accessible to every Chrysler dealer in the country. Once you have a genuine Chrysler extended warranty, you can walk into any Chrysler dealer in the country with absolutely no paperwork and that dealer can access your coverage using your VIN."

It makes it sound like it is a genuine factory warranty. If it were me, I wouldn't budge on the price you were quoted. If the dealer won't match it, I would have no issues with buying it from the site.
