Default Flickering Electrics

Hello All,
I am the proud owner of a 1985 D150 base model with a 318 in it.
For some reason my lights (all of them) flicker when the truck is at idle.
It is so bad that at a red light, my radio cuts off from lack of power it seems.
I don't know if its the voltage regulator or the ECM or what.
Help PLEASE!!!!!

It's hard to say without performing some basic testing. Is the battery the correct one and does it pass a load test? Are the terminals clean and tight? Are there any voltage drops between the battery and alternator, regulator or engine block? What is the regulated and unregulated output of the alternator? Are the alternator belts properly tensioned and not slipping?

A few simple testes with a volt meter will tell the tale. You can pop the battery and the alternator out and take them to your local Autozone, Pepboys etc and they usually test them for free. Before you do that, check all the connections for clean and tight, that is were I would start.

sounds like you need to check what the voltage is with the truck running. with old trucks bad connections is a common problem. could be a bad ground connection.
