Default Exhaust question

Hi I have a 2010 ram 1500 sport. It has the stock dual exhaust straight out the back. I was thinking about putting a glasspack in it, But recently one of my buddies told me to just straight pipe it and cut out the middle muffler. He said its a little louder, not much, but has a really nice tone to it, and its cheaper. Has anyone done this before? Sound good? Any info appreciated. Thanks.
